Features to know about

Safer towing, smarter setup

Hand on scale

If your trailer sways, or your truck feels light in the steering, or unsettled over bumps, your tongue weight could be off. This scale helps you dial it in before you hit the road. With a simple squeeze of the lever, you can adjust the height with one hand and lower the trailer with the other. Just set the foot in 2" steps, position it under the coupler, and crank your jack a couple inches. You'll get a clear, accurate reading in seconds. No math. No guesswork. Just a smoother, safer tow.

Stable, secure, and SnapPad equipped

Hand holding SnapPad

Ever set up on gravel or grass and felt your rig teeter like it's one gust away from tipping? This scales wide steel foot stays planted so you get accurate readings even when the ground's working against you. The built-in set screw holds the foot in place, so it doesn't drop out while you're adjusting the height. And to boost your footing, it comes with a 6" SnapPad that adds grip and stability when things get sketchy.

Easy-to-read gauge

Close-up of Gauge

No squinting, no second guessing. The large analog display shows tongue weight in 50-lb increments up to 2,000 lbs. It also shows tongue weight in tons, so you'll know right away if you're creeping up on your vehicle's limits.

Tested, trusted, and JD approved

BTBRV Logo

This isn't just some random tool with a logo slapped on it. JD from Big Truck Big RV has spent years hauling, wrenching, and testing gear in the real world, and he only puts his name on the gear he actually uses. All BTBRV products go through the wringer before they make the cut. No BS. No gimmicks. Just reliable gear that does what it's supposed to when it matters most.

Worked easy and very well. I like being able to see my tongue weight before I hook to the truck, that way I can balance the load so it tows better and safer. I just got it, so I can't attest to longevity of the product.

I guess you get what you pay for this was a little bit more expensive a little bit larger scale, but I think it beats the Spring type that I had before. It was very inconsistent. I am well what’s the point of weighing and if you can’t trust the measurement. This one from E trailer is very stable and extremely accurate. I had about 350 pounds too much on my tongue of my trailer so I move some stuff around. Got it to be about 11%. Thank you I’ll shop here again.

by:

Disappointing. I was hoping for a tongue weight of under 700 lbs, it was 850. I’m sure it’s the scale and not the twin fully filled propane tanks and weight distributing hitch stored in the front trailer compartment.

I’m glad I bought it. I’m a numbers guy and this is my first RV. Now I have the information for a safe tow. BTW, your scale was the only affordable one I found that did less than 100 lb increments.

I needed to have a better understanding of my campers tongue weight loaded with our regular equipment and also when we are fully loaded for a trip. Traveling to a shop with a tongue scale is not convenient. I searched on line and found the BTBRV and watched reviews. I am a big fan of SnapPad and was thrilled it came paired with one. I used it for the first time last week before our trip. The height adjustment makes it easy to get close to the tongue and in under a minute I had my weight. I checked it as the camper sits and rechecked it when fully loaded for the trip. Our tongue weight was right where it should be. I will continue to use it before every trip as our gear and supplies change based on our destination.

by:

Set up and use was pretty straight forward. Now I need to adjust the weight distribution in my camper trailer.

by:

Outstanding product quality. Outstanding etrailer service

by:

Great tool for those who haul a lot of different cargo. This tool you can check your tongue weight before hitting the road. But I agree with others. The gauge would be nice if it face up.

by:

The construction is fantastic and worked like a charm!

by:

This product is solid, sturdy and easy to use. The on,y suggestion is to make the dial easier to see and discern the wight. It has given me greater confidence in knowing what my tongue weeght is .Perhaps enlarge the surface area of the face with larger numbers Customer service, as always with e-trailer was excellent.

by:

Works as advertised. Was a little short for my tongue height, even fully extended. Nothing a block couldn’t fix though.

by:

Really quality product. Easy to use and easy to store . Arrived within a week of ordering. Will recommend to others.

by:

Used once was glad to get a correct reading. This will help in setting up new BW hitch that I can’t get set correctly or where to set the pressure so can pull the camper safely.

by:

Having just received the product, it’s way too soon to know what the quality is at this point. Once I have an opportunity to use the product, I’ll be more than happy to score.

by:

Great product. It is super easy to use and gives me accurate important information.

by:

It is easy to use. The reason only 4 stars is the gauge to read is upside down so have to take a picture of it, make sure my auto rotate is off, and flip my phone to see the weight.

by:

Easy to use and accurate

by:

it worked, hope it is accurate.

by:

works great easy to use

by:

Junk. The first one arrived with broken glass. The replacement arrived with oil spilling everywhere. No damage at all to either box, which tells me it left the factory like this. etrailer was great in helping with the return. The product was a waste of two trips to UPS to return it.

  • Can 2017 Ford F-150 Carry More Than 500 lbs of Tongue Weight
Hey Don, welcome back! You are always going to be limited by the lowest number when it comes to towing/tongue weight capacity. Even though the hitch is rated higher you're stuck with 500 lbs as the max. It is as you said, the tongue weight includes the Yakima EXO with gear plus the tongue weight of your trailer. If you aren't sure about your tongue weight I recommend getting a scale like # BTBRV27FR or even a Weigh Safe ball mount # WS56KR. I'm not sure how much your tongue weight is...

  • Maximum Height of BTBRV Tongue Weight Scale
Hey Janice! The max height of the BTBRV Tongue Weight Scale # BTBRV44FR and # BTBRV27FR is 20-1/2" and the minimum height is 14-1/2" so it will be perfect for your trailer. The scale adjusts in 2" increments using the trigger latch for easy adjustments.

  • How Accurate is the BTBRV Tongue Weight Scale With SnapPad Jack Stand Pad
Hey Aaron! The Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale for Trailers with SnapPad Jack Stand Pad # BTBRV27FR uses a 323 gauge so the margin of error is 3%. The gauge on the scale displays weight in 50-lb increments up to 2,000 lbs. If you need a storage bag the Big Truck Big RV Accessories Bag # BTBRV002 is also available. • Timbren SES for 2021 Nissan Frontier Hauling Commercial Mower and Towing Utility Trailer
Hello again Ed! You probably ended up outside our fitguide with some of the Timbren the parts you were looking at. The Timbren SES severe service kit is designed for constant loads like a truck bed camper or salt spreader. Regardless, a severe service kit is not available for the Frontier. The highest rated Timbren SES for your truck is the # TTORTUN4L which has a 3,000 lb capacity. You may have also seen the # T63AV which lists a 4,800 lb capacity but that is only the bump load, the...

  • Is BTBRV Tongue Weight Scale for Trailers BTBRV004 Adjustable
Hey Tony! The Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale for Trailers - 1,000 lbs # BTBRV004 is not adjustable. It has a fixed height of 17-1/4". At that height, and the 1,000 lb capacity, you will be able to get a measurement on a lot of different trailers. The # BTBRV99FR with the SnapPad will add approximately 1" to that overall height along with the increased stability. If you're looking for an adjustable scale we also have the # BTBRV44FR (with storage bag) or # BTBRV27FR (with SnapPad)....

  • How Long is Malone MicroSportXT Trailer With Tongue Retracted
Hi Joe; the Malone MicroSportXT Trailer # MPG460XT is 8-1/4' long when the tongue is retracted. You will probably be able to store it in your garage with the kayak on it if you support the tongue with something like the # BTBRV27FR. Assuming you center it on the crossbars your sea eagle is going to stick off the back 45" which will put you right at 12' overall which is the space you have available. Even if it is tight, I'm sure you can shift it forward on the crossbars to get a little extra...

  • Will Equal-i-zer WDH Work With 2021 Ford F-150 Towing 2025 Winnebago Micro Minnie 1800BH
Hey Michael! The # EQ37100ET is designed best for a 600-1,000 lb tongue weight range. Based on the weight of that trailer you may be better off with the # EQ37060ET for 200-600 lbs of tongue weight. Tongue weight is typically 10-15% of the loaded trailer weight so you're right in the middle potentially. Realistically it would be best to measure with a scale like the # BTBRV27FR to be sure. Also, the weight of anything you're carrying behind the rear axle in your truck counts as trailer...

  • Does Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale for Trailers with SnapPad Include Storage Bag
Hey Regean! The Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale for Trailers with SnapPad # BTBRV27FR does not include the storage bag. You can pick up the storage bag separately # BTBRV002. You can also get the jack with the bag # BTBRV44FR and add the SnapPad # SN47FR separately. Sometimes the prices vary so I would go with whatever combination has the lowest cost.

  • Weight Distribution Hitch for 2024 Toyota Tundra Towing Magic Tilt Tandem Axle Trailer
Hey Chad! How tall is the tongue of your trailer? It looks like the frame is quite a bit taller than the actual trailer tongue from some of the pictures I looked at. This is important because you're going to need a pole tongue adapter like # EQ95-01-5950 to use a weight distribution hitch on your trailer. The Equal-i-zer system is the best option but will only fit trailer tongues up to 5" tall. There are adapter offerings from Reese and Blue Ox as well but they only go up to 6" tall. In...

  • Can Block Be Used Under BTBRV Tongue Weight Scale
Hi Ryan; you can place a block under the BTBRV Tongue Weight Scale # BTBRV44FR if you need to. Just make sure the block and scale are on level ground. You will also want to chock the wheels of your trailer to keep it stable. You may also be interested in the # BTBRV27FR which comes with a SnapPad.

  • Can You Store The BTBRV Tongue Weight Scale On It's Side?
Hey Jim, The BTBRV Scale # BTBRV27FR like many out there is recommended to store standing up. Not saying that you cannot store it on its side, but for longevity and to be safe from damaging it I would recommend storing upright. What I have found easiest is finding an area to put it and seeing if there is a way to bungee chord it in. Besides that, this scale is going to make things a lot easier for you and your future bathroom scales. That is a cool trailer though, I was actually thinking...

  • How to Find Weight Distribution Hitch For Trailer Towed With 2004 GMC Sierra
Finding the right weight distribution system will require knowing the loaded tongue weight of your setup. You can use a scale like the Big Truck Big RV # BTBRV27FR, # BTBRV99FR, or follow one of the methods outlined in the help article below. You can also get a good idea using the GVWR since tongue weight is typically 10-15% of the loaded trailer weight. Ideally you want this number to fall into the middle of the tongue weight range of the system. For a quality WDH that is widely considered...
